This project addresses the power of image makers generally, and Rockwell specifically, in guiding public opinion and imagination.
Alterations to Norman Rockwell digital reproductions allude to sinister aspects of contemporary American culture that challenge or contradict Rockwell’s propagandized vision of American life.
In our present-day Rockwellian Dystopia, we wrestle with the pervasive delusions that there was once a magical time where we all lived in harmony, and that the American ideals of family, property, prosperity and community are universally attainable and beloved.
