The piece consists of 13 7” x 4” altered book pages originally containing the full text of the US Constitution including Amendments. The 13 pages were removed from the book “The US Constitution: an Introduction” published in 1969, individually mounted to mat board, trimmed to page size, and altered using a combination of slicing, peeling and sanding to reveal the “found” poetry.
This work has been exhibited at the Squirrel Cafe Winter Warmer Solstice Celebration in Jamaica Plain, MA and in the group exhibition Truth Telling: Art in Search of Social Justice at the Nave Gallery in Somerville, MA.
